WISE BUDDHA SEE
This representation has been used in numerous figures as a symbol of wisdom and/or teaching with which humans must learn.
The original figures are the 3 monkeys: the deaf, the blind and the mute.
Legend has it that monkeys were heralds sent by the gods to punish the evil deeds of humans.
Each monkey had a defect and two virtues:
Kikazaru – was the deaf one, in charge of using the sense of sight. He had to observe those who committed bad deeds and communicate them to Mizaru through his voice.
Mizaru – was the blind man, in charge of transmitting to Iwazaru with his voice what Kikazaru had told him.
Iwazaru – was the mute one, in charge of listening to Mizaru's messages to decide the punishment that fell on the human and verify that it had been fulfilled.
Properly positioned, we would have a monkey that sees, hears and speaks.
Together and organized, the monkeys manage to achieve their goal, something they could not achieve separately, a clear example of cooperation and camaraderie.
